Emma by Jane Austen

This isn't our "official" choice but since we are both reading it at the same time, I thought I would add it to the blog. Anyone else like to join us?

Jane Austen has a whimsical style to her writing. Emma is a young woman living in the late 1700's. She is quite sure of herself and an expert on ettiquette and social graces. Emma has been successful in matching one couple for marriage. She decides that she is quite good at matching couples and proceeds to try to match couples with unfortunate results.

Austen's style of writing is full of description. It took me a while to get used to the round-about way that Austen's characters would say things. Once I got used to the style, I thoroughly enjoyed the intertwined lives of the people of Highbury. This is a classic that I would recommend to friends.
