The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand

Let's explore Ayn Rand's classic novel The Fountainhead. We should have some insight into her philosophy, Objectivism, that was groundbreaking when the novel was published in 1943. Get out your reading glasses - with 694 pages of very small type, you will need them!

Okay. I have read the first two parts of The Fountainhead. To me the first part "Peter Keating" was very uplifting. Howard Roark is so unaware of his own surroundings while being so sure of his talent and obsession with architecture. I felt that that was still some hope that there were people in the world with pure motives.

After the second part, I started feeling like it doesn't matter how pure your motives, the world would steal your happiness away.

Two parts to go...

Last two parts done. I could understand how Howard Roark felt about his work but this book definitely showed an Ideal. There are few things in life that can really be that pure. Also, there are few people that really do not need other people at all.

Well worth making it to the end.
